Calling all plant lovers! Dress up your plants with cool 3D printed pots and trellises. Find out how to combine shapes and 3D models into unique creations that will wow your friends and family. Need a self-watering planter? No problem, just print one from the many selections you can find online or design your own. The possibilities are endless once you know how to design and 3D print. Come join other plantaholics in this fun workshop.

Virtual and augmented reality are the next frontier in learning and teaching. Research has shown that immersive learning like VR and AR makes learning more interesting and motivating. It could even lead to higher recall and ability to apply the skills learned. FSU College of Education has been doing some cutting-edge VR development and research in this area. They had received a huge grant from the National Science Foundation to study teaching practices in virtual reality. So come meet one of their team members, Chih-Pu Dai, and find out what it takes to be in this exciting and fast growing field.

Are you a movie buff or TV junkie? Then check out this 3D design and 3D Printing learning event. You’ll learn how to download 3D objects from popular movies and TV shows then customize, modify, or mash them. Finally, see how you can send your objects to one of the many 3D printers at the Innovation Hub. Bring a friend or two and have fun creating your movie memorabilia.

All participants must bring their own laptops to follow along with the step-by-step instructions.

Orlando Kenny is a former Innovation Hub intern who would often be seen tinkering with some new idea he was working on. Some of his interesting projects include an application that showcase students’ skills so others could find them for potential collaboration. He’s now a Software Developer for Inductive Health Informatics. But he’ll be back at the Hub this Friday to share his experiences and insights on developing an innovator mindset.

In this one and half hour event, you’ll learn the basics of 3D design to create a custom gift, find ready-made 3D objects, and send these objects for printing at the Hub.

3D printing is FREE for FSU students, faculty, and staff.

The Innovation Hub brings you the “Forever Seminoles” - a fun afternoon where you can learn how to create your own Nole-related 3D objects and have them printed for free at the Hub. Find out how easy it is to unleash your creativity with 3D design. Learn the science and art of 3D printing and impress your friends and family.

Participants must bring their own computers to follow along with the demonstration. The event takes place in the center of the Hub in the Collab area.
